Fire and Ice (Tinsel) « Thread Started on Dec 31, 2005, 5:24pm »
It was an odd place. The entrance to the Blackfang Caverns stretched high, nearly 20 feet. Stalactites hung down from the top of the entranceway, while stalagmites rose up on the bottom, making the cave seem like a yawning gullet, waiting to swallow anyone who entered.
Kaylink walked without fear up to one of the pillars of stone, running her paw along it. The stone was smooth and gray, cool beneath her paws. Farther back into the mouth of the cave were pools of eerie water, tinted pale green by the dim light of the caverns. More rock formations sprouted up farther down the tunnel, anchored firmly beneath the cool, moist sand. The rocks back there were cold and slimy, like something dead and festering.
The scarred cheetah stared down it's depths. If there truly was a Hell - the general had never believed in this "heaven and hell" business - this would be what the entrance would look like.

Like a ghost in the hall, Tinsel padded through the caverns. His paws made no sound, a talent he had learned from long before. Even Koru was surprised by the fox's quiet ways. His shaggy snowy pelt bounced up and down as he went. The dripping of water in the hollow caverns was slightly eerie. Drip... Tinsel shook his head to clear the noise that haunted the deep caves. Drip...
How could anyone think with it? But it was all they had, Kensar. Alhazar had forced them into the Dark Lands, to live in caves like fools. Tinsel grit his teeth viciously. Oh, how he hated Alhazar. It was maddening that they were still alive.
The fox continued onward, unaware of who was around the corner. He passed a group of wolves who lay with their legs tucked underneath them for warmth. Three pairs of eyes followed him warily has he walked by. Tinsel met them, unafraid of his own people.
At last, the canine turned the corner. Immediately he slammed to a halt, his eyes narrowing. Kaylink...
Tinsel flexed his claws, his whiskers twitching; eager to raise up if he had to show his teeth. The tiny razors would have loved to be exposed to this feline .
"Hello... general ," spoke the fox, his voice a lethal whip across Kaylink's face. He had hissed the word 'general'. The title should have belonged to him. This traitor did not deserve to command an army, even if it was an army of dust-bunnies. Tinsel snorted at the thought.

Kaylink was not startled by the fox. He may be quiet, but a cat's ears can pick up even the sound of a fly walking across a leaf. Good evening Tinsel, she meowed, but there was a slight sneer in her words. Almost like she did not trust the fox. Which she didn't, of course.
Just a few days before she and Tinsel had argued bitterly. The general had called a meeting to decide on a spy. Koru had, upon Kaylink's encouragement, chosen Aria, the pine marten. Tisnel had been displeased, and cahllenged Kaylink. Both Kensarians had spat venom at each other before Koru broke them up.
It was a good thing he did, too. They had been perhaps a moment away from fighting. Who would have won that match was a question Kaylink was still pondering. Tinsel was smaller, yes, and slower. But Kaylink had no vision in her left eye, caused by a long scar of exposed skin that would be easy to tear into. Both were equal in thier incredible speed and swiftness. Kaylink had sharper claws, but Tinsel had stronger jaws. It was a match that would go undetermined.
But Kaylink knew that sooner or later a winner would be declared. Tensions between the dog and cat were too breakable. A fight would occur eventually, where only one could survive . . .

Tinsel's eyes glinted devilishly. It was amazing that Kaylink used to be his friend...his ally. They had always had competition though...both had wanted to become general. But when Koru chose Kaylink, the cheetah changed. A taste of power had taken her far away from where Tinsel stood. And then they no longer spoke kind words to each other. Everything had shifted. Ally had become Enemy. Friend had become Foe.
The fox could hear the sarcasm in the cheetah's voice. Of course, he replied with his own sarcasm. He sent daggers at the cat, ones that raked deep wounds in the animal's heart.
"I come out here to arrange my new fleet and to check on my people. It is a duty I enjoy and am faithful to." The word faithful had been stretched to show that Tinsel did not trust. The fox knew that Kaylink was planning something wrong. He'd stop it and end this war of words with his own jaws if he had to.
"And you general ? What brings you to the caves for the first time in a long while?"

Kaylink gave a soft chuckle of amusement. The fox thought he was scaring her. He thought that by using the word "faithful" she would be wary. Stupid fox. She was unfaithful. And damn proud of it! Of course Tinsel kenw she had no loyalty. She would be suprised if he didn't. Koru did. Ashara did. Practically everyone in Kingdom Animalia knew. Duh.
What brings anyone anywhere? She replied smoothly, her eyes never leaving the cave. I hear that Koru has made you his Lieutenant, the cheetah replied, changing the subject to one Tinsel would surely like to brag about, Congratulations.
She had been suprised a bit, but not shocked when she heard the news. Of course Koru had chosen Tinsel. Why not? The little fox worshipped the ground Koru pissed on. He'd gnaw off his own leg for the demonic wolf. Why not give the fox more power?

Of course Tinsel was faithful to Koru. The wolf was strong, wise, and powerful. Anyone who did not believe in his reign would most certainly die. Tinsel trusted the wolf though. He had no reason not to believe in his monarchy. But Kaylink...Kaylink would eventually have Koru's teeth in his flesh. Maybe the demon wolf would let Tinsel take out the kitty's right eye as well. Tinsel smirked at the thought of a blind and shrieking Kaylink. It would be fun to kill her then.
"Thank you," replied the fox thickly, his words blood upon her. He said no more about his new position. He'd let it sink in without words.
"So, how is your mercenary friend? Last I heard, Koru chased him off after he had tried to kill him. Something about an assassination attempt? Oh, tut, I wonder who could have done assigned the panda such a task! Any ideas, Kaylink?" said the fox, his voice innocent. The word had been sent. Koru had sent word with a raven. When he returned from his meeting, he would certainly hold a lovely conversation with the cat.

Mercenary? Whatever are you talking about, my dear Tinsel?
The words were innocent sounding enough, but one look at her face showed that she was lying. On purpose. Just teasing Tinsel. She wore a broad grin that showed all of her teeth. One of the only times she ever smiled was when torturing a victim. Ripping off limbs. Gnawing on ears. Gouging out eyes. Drinking blood hot from an animal's throat. Or withholding information.
Well, you seem rather sure about this topic. Who do you think did it? She stared inncoently at him for a minute before giving a gasp of mock astonishment. You don't think it was dear old me, now do you? Oh dear Tinsel, how could you say such a thing? Kaylink was up now, and padding in a slow circle around the fox, her eye never leaving his, her inncoent expression slowly dripping off her face. Bite me, you stupid dog.

Tinsel calmly watched the cheetah circle him. He did not fear the overgrown feline. No, this kitty was too pathetic in everything she did. Tinsel simply smirked. Kaylink always pulled little charades like this. She would use sarcasm and innocence to deny anything, though she clearly lied behind her teeth.
I'll break every single tooth if I have to, Tinsel thought darkly.
"Oh no, I have no idea who it could possibly be! Oh well, the mouse that hides from the cat in its hole will only find itself caught in a trap in the end," said Tinsel with a mock distant look. His eyes soon darted back over to Kaylink's, a deadly gaze that reeked of hatred and evil. Tinsel used to be known for his coal black stare. It seemed as if he had no pupils, as if whoever he met eyes with could just be sucked into that black hole and receive no mercy from a black heart.
Technically, Koru was away. Tinsel could attack the mangy flea bag without being caught. It would be so easy. To simply turn and cut the kitty down there and now. But Tinsel was loyal. He may have been evil, hateful, and blood-hungry, but he was loyal. Koru would have the final say in the cheetah's trial. As for the fox, he simply hoped that Koru would let him get to help gouge Kaylink's last eye from it's sockets.

((OK!)) A lithe, dark shape moved through the cave. Glinting red eyes flicked from one side to the other. Claws glinted in the moonlight. A growl came from that of a panther. Her long tail dragged on the ground. Nightsoul felt some of the dew from the stalctites drop on her snout, and made her head twitch, but was still unheard. Nightsoul's heart was filled with hate, and her eyes were red as the bon fire coals.
"I don't mean to interupt." Nightsoul growled. Nightsoul's unretractable claws clinked against the rocky floor. Unlike any other feline, her claws were not able to retract. She stared them both in the eyes. Some say that Nightsoul's eyes were filled with so much evil, she could kill you with a single glance. Turn you to stone. Make you burst into flames. Bleeding to death. Get killed with one glance filled with pure hatred and evil.
"I hear you both want to kill Koru. Well, so do I." She mocked. The rotten fleabag was no good. She would kill to get power. Nightsoul was known to kill the innocent as well. No matter what age, size, or history. She will rip their limbs apart, until only a pile of flesh, blood and bones were left. Her knife sharp claws shined like ice. "Kaylink, stop it. Coem near me me, and I will use your skull as a head on a spear." Nightsoul threatened. Nightsoul own claws were replaced with the cruel talons of an owl.
